Now further focused on reducing excess inflammation for the perinatal population
I'm back! And I'm... exhausted. Spoiler alert: I'm a mom of 2 now!
If we haven't met yet, my name is Gloria, and I'm a chef, registered dietitian nutritionist, endo warrior, wife, IVF mama, and entrepreneur (in no particular order).
I started Savor and Soothe in 2020, with a focus on reducing excess inflammation in the body through manageable nutrition interventions, which can improve the gut-brain axis (affecting mental health) and can reduce the symptoms of acute or chronic inflammatory conditions (like endometriosis). Since then, my original battle with debilitating endometriosis has turned into a roller coaster... an official infertility diagnosis, assisted reproductive therapy, weight gain, motherhood, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, first foods, and toddler feeding. Thankfully, I was able to go through insurance for IVF, but it was still expensive, as it is for many people who go through it. For this reason, I wanted to ensure that I was doing everything I could to make the most of every part of each cycle. I did what I could to optimize the (unofficial) big 4 fertility factors: fitness, sleep, stress management, and nutrition. Even though I'm a registered dietitian, I did a lot of meticulous research to make sure that I was optimizing my nutrition at each stage. This pinpointed pivot of the goal of Savor and Soothe from overall inflammation reduction to supporting the perinatal body from the inside out was born from my eagerness to share the wealth of information I accumulated with parents of all kinds (aspiring, in the making, recovering, struggling).

What is this blog for?
The purpose of this blog is to build a valuable archive of searchable information for when it's needed most, whichever stage you're in. Beyond that, it can give you an idea of my philosophy as a culinary professional, nutrition practitioner, and imperfect parent in case you feel that I can support you further in your parenthood journey. While I haven't been through everything in the fertility, nutrition, or food spheres, I have engaged in more than my fair share of trial and error, and I have an incredible network of people and resources in each circle of experience. I'm also a natural problem-solver, endlessly curious, empathetic, and determined. I employ these traits to lessen the load for my clients and lift them up in a tender season of their lives when the risk of overwhelm is especially high.
Having been in the thick of that season myself for the better part of the past 5 years, I strive to be for my clients the resource I needed at my lowest moments. As the oldest of four children, I'm naturally poised to take on that mother hen + guinea pig role as the seasoned nurturer, offering gentle guidance in hopes of easing your path even just a little bit.

If you made it this far...
...thank you! I truly hope that something I've put out there lightens your day in some way, and I wish you all the best in this season of your life.
